The all new Ironwear Cool Vest is loaded with new safety and performance features. Let's start with the cool mesh material. This strong mesh material will keep you cool, help reduce sweating and make the vest more of a pleasure to use even on warmer days. This vest departs from the tradition Ironwear bib style to a jacket style with heavy-duty zipper front. No more putting the vest on over your head. The cool vest also includes the convenience feature of two zip pockets for keys, mp3 player, IPOD or cellphone. Now that's smart! there's also a reflective safety bar on the front and the back.
By far the key feature on this new design from Ironwear is the use of heavy, wide mesh fabric. The fabric will keep the user cooler than any vest I know of presently on the market. Excessive heat build up and excessive sweat loss is a common problem with weight vests. Designer Arnold Cook of Ironwear has addressed this issue with the use of this new Cool Mesh. I also like the finishing touches of zip up front, accessory/mp3 pocket left and right and a wide reflective stripe on the back. This vest is ideal for anyone concerned with overheating- especially during the Summer season.

The Ironwear Cool Vest Long standard is adjustable from 2-15 lbs via 28 individual 1/2 pound FlexMetal® rubber weights (vest with no weights weighs 2 lb). Add up to 15 more pounds of optional FlexMetal weights for a maximum vest weight of 30 lbs. This vest features a torso and a waist velcro closure system which secures the rear to the front of vest tightly to your body. The body hugging fit of this weight vest keeps it from shifting during the the most vigorous exercise. The tight to the torso, molded, custom fit eliminates weight shifting during activities like power walking, plyometrics, hill bounding, running, lateral drills and vertical jumps. Weight vests are also used in the gym when performing squats, lunges, dips, pull-ups, push-ups, etc. Another nice but seldom mentioned feature of Ironwear vests is the flat low profile FlexMetal weights. If you're on the floor or ground exercising with the vest on you'll appreciate the comfortable, flat, broad surface of FlexMetal compared to cigar shaped steel weights.
FlexMetal® is a patented process combining rubber like material and iron or other elements to create a high density, relatively small and flat flexible weight. FlexMetal® rectangular vest weights weigh 1/2 lbs. each. This thin weight with a large surface area "sticks" inside the pocket of the vest so the weight will not move from even the most vigorous activity. The flexible nature of FlexMetal means that each weight can bend and contour to the user's body to form the most synergistic fit possible.
