A Solid PVC Mat vs. Foam PVC or Why Thicker is Not Necessarily Better

EXERVO™ Defender mats are made from a pliable, solid PVC rather blown PVC. Blown PVC is made by blowing air into the mix to form a foam mat. This mat is thicker- often advertised as 3/8" thick but the instant you place your equipment on it the foam PVC easily compresses. The cells and struts of the foam break down and the mat wears out and can rip. Bottom line- air fluffs up the mat material so whether it's 3/8", 1/2" or even 1" thick; heavy exercise equipment will compress the foam. A solid PVC mat, on the other hand, can withstand the weight of the equipment and every day wear and tear. So, the first question is this: Is the mat you're considering blown PVC or solid PVC?
