The BOSU Balance Trainer is the brainchild of David Weck. His goal was to design a balance trainer that was challenging and safe for all levels. BOSU is an acronym for Both Sides Up. The ball can be used on the inflated side or flipped over onto the platform side for different types of balance challenges and exercises. By standing on the unstable surface of the half-dome ball the user will engage stablilizing muscles to find and maintain balance. As the air shifts in the ball the user constantly adjusts to the ever changing instability of the surface. The BOSU Ball challenges all abilities from beginner to advanced athlete. The ball is widely used by professional sports teams, colleges, trainers and fitness enthusiasts.

The BOSU is used for a variety of exercises like single or two footed balance stances, ab and back exercises, push-ups and other stability exercises. The genius of the design is that all these exercises are performed on an unstable surface. The instability constantly challenges the body to find a balance equilibrium by firing deep stabilizing muscles. Unlike stable floor exercises the user is challenged throughout the full range of motion. The body's ability to "learn" a movement and increase efficiency and economy in a motion through repetition is diminished. Every workout on the BOSU ball is a productive, new challenge.

The solid BOSU platform is 25 inches in diameter. The dome is inflated to the desired firmness through a valve inlet. Each BOSU Balance Trainer is shipped with a pump, valve plug and for a limited time the BOSU is offered with four full-length training DVDs free ($45 value)! These DVDs are the latest dynamic BOSU workouts. The DVD titles are "Calorie Combustion, "Absolutely Abs", "Long and Lean" and "Total Body Workout". BOSU warranty is for 90 days and is for home use but is void for commercial use.
